This policy explains what HopNaija collects and why. It describes the product as it works today. It is not legal advice.

1. Who we are

HopNaija is a Nigerian transportation discovery app. Passengers find independent operators and contact them directly. We do not dispatch trips or process ride payments.

Questions: support@hopnaija.com.

2. Information we collect

Account. Email, display name, and optional profile photo. Password accounts also use email verification and password reset. Operator applications add a Nigerian mobile number, city, vehicle details, vehicle photo, service areas, operating hours, and a short about.

Usage. We store favorites you save, reports you submit, and aggregated activity such as profile views and call events. Call records are for platform analytics. They do not give an operator your private passenger identity.

Location. If you allow location, we use it to suggest a supported city or, for operators who are available, temporary presence so passengers can see nearby operators. Exact live coordinates are not placed on the public operator profile. Passengers see approximate distance or nearby status, not an operator’s exact map pin.

Device and auth. Firebase Authentication, Firestore, and Storage host accounts, listings, and photos. Google sign-in, where used, is handled by Google.

3. How we use it

  • run your account and show public operator listings
  • review operator applications and later profile-change requests
  • let signed-in passengers save favorites and report operators
  • review reports and take moderation action
  • understand platform activity in aggregate
  • email you about verification, password reset, or account issues

We do not sell your personal information.

4. What operators and passengers can see

Public operator profiles include display name, photos, transport type, vehicle details, areas, hours, and availability. They should not include unnecessary private account data.

Operators do not receive a passenger’s private identifiers just because someone viewed a profile, called, favorited, or reported them.

5. Sharing

We use trusted infrastructure (including Firebase) to operate HopNaija. We may share information if required by law, or with our support and admin team to review applications, reports, and account issues.

We do not share passenger lists or exact live locations with the public.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and listing data while your account is open and as needed to operate the platform. If you close your account, operator capability ends. Some records, such as reports or security logs, may be kept as needed for safety and operations.

7. Your choices

You can update profile information in the app, deny or revoke location permission, and close your account from Account Settings. You can email us to ask about the personal information we hold.

8. Children

HopNaija is for people who can lawfully use a transport discovery service in Nigeria. Do not create an account for a child who cannot do so.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date will change when we do.
